A Cape Escape Turned Wedding Celebration

When Hil & Will got engaged, they didn’t wait long to say “I do.” With less than a year to plan, they knew exactly what they wanted: a joy-filled, colorful wedding on Cape Cod that felt true to them. For Hil, Orleans, Massachusetts is home, and the Nauset Beach Inn held special meaning. Over the years, she’d hosted countless “Cape Escapes” there with friends. Weekends full of lobster bakes, ocean breezes, and ABBA dance parties. Those same traditions became the heart of her and Will’s wedding weekend.

Their wedding was everything a Cape Cod celebration should be: vibrant, coastal, heartfelt, and full of personality.

A Ceremony by the Sea

Hil & Will exchanged vows overlooking the ocean, beneath a traditional Jewish chuppah adorned with vibrant seasonal blooms. The ceremony beautifully wove together the couple’s heritages and personalities, from the sound of the waves to the joyful moment when they broke the glass to cheers from family and friends. The view of Nauset Beach stretched endlessly behind them, grounding the entire celebration in the beauty of home.

A Tent Transformed

When it came to the design, Hil & Will had one guiding vision: color and joy. They wanted every guest to feel like they had stepped into something alive. A floral dreamscape filled with texture, light, and warmth.

We transformed their tent into a floral overload that felt like home, with layers of color and cozy, coastal-inspired details. From custom draping and tailored lighting to hand-built bar structures and plush lounge furnishings, the environment was immersive, cheerful, and deeply personal.

To honor Will’s roots in Maine, we sourced mini hand-painted buoys from a local Maine artist and used them as escort cards. Each one tied to a vintage lobster trap for an authentic coastal touch that delighted guests. It was a perfect nod to their story, blending both of their seaside homes into one.

A Menu of Cape Cod Traditions

In true Cape style, dinner featured the flavors that have always defined Hil’s summers on the Cape: lobster, scallops, and fresh local fare. Guests dined overlooking the dunes, with salt air, laughter, and champagne in abundance.

As the sun set over Nauset, the energy shifted, and just like her “Cape Escape” weekends of years past, Hil changed into her second look: a playful, party-ready outfit perfect for an ABBA-filled dance set. From Dancing Queen to Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, the dance floor came alive in the best way: sequins, tambourines, and pure joy.

Every element of Hil & Will’s Nauset Beach Inn wedding was designed to celebrate not just their marriage, but their shared roots, their love of color, and their ability to bring people together. It was a wedding that radiated joy, one that felt effortless, alive, and unmistakably them.

As planners, we often talk about design that tells a story, and this one was all heart. From the floral-filled tent to the last ABBA song under the Cape Cod stars, it was a weekend no one will ever forget.
